Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has inaugurated a 17-member committee to review his administration’s 2023 manifesto and develop a new policy blueprint ahead of his possible 2027 re-election bid.
The committee, known as the Blueprint 2.0 Committee, is expected to assess the implementation of the governor’s campaign document, My Commitment for Kano, identify outstanding priorities and propose strategies for the 2027–2031 period.
The move signals an early preparation for the 2027 governorship election, as political actors across Kano and other states begin reviewing policies, achievements and future campaign directions ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Governor Yusuf’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
According to the statement, the committee will operate under the supervision of Governor Yusuf and his deputy, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo.
It is chaired by Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, while Dr Yusuf Ya’u Gambo, Executive Chairman of Strategic Governance and Policy Coordination, will serve as secretary.
The committee comprises government officials, academics, policy experts and stakeholders from various sectors, including health, education, agriculture, technology, investment and governance.
The statement said the committee would review the achievements recorded under the 2023 blueprint and develop recommendations to consolidate the administration’s programmes.
“The committee is mandated to review the implementation of the 2023 blueprint, My Commitment for Kano, identify areas yet to be fully implemented and incorporate them into Blueprint 2.0.”
It added that members would engage stakeholders from government and non-government sectors to generate ideas and policy proposals capable of producing a comprehensive development plan for the state.
“The committee is further expected to engage stakeholders from both state and non-state sectors to generate innovative ideas and policy recommendations that will produce a comprehensive, inclusive and people-driven blueprint.”
The statement explained that the new document would outline Governor Yusuf’s strategic priorities for a second term while focusing on areas requiring further interventions.
“The document will serve as a guide towards consolidating the gains of the present administration and accelerating Kano State’s development.”
Members of the committee include the Director General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa; Director General of Kano State Investment Promotion Agency, Muhammad Nazir Halliru; Director General of Kano State Information Technology Development Agency, Dr Bashir Abdu Muzakkar; and Managing Director of Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority, Dr Farouk Kurawa.
Others are Managing Director of Kano Agricultural Supply Company, Kabiru Sani Yakubu; Senior Special Assistant on Women Education, Engr Yesmin Mukhtar; and Executive Chairman of Ajingi Local Government Council, Dr Abdulhadi Zubairu Chula.
The inauguration comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with governors and political parties beginning preparations around policy achievements, future programmes and electoral strategies.
