President Bola Tinubu will commence his re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, 2026, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, disclosed this on Friday after meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and senator representing Zamfara Central, said Tinubu had approved the proposed campaign timetable. He added that the council would formally begin its activities with an inauguration scheduled for October 14.
According to him, the inauguration will take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after which the campaign timetable for visits to other states will be made public.
“I just presented a proposed campaign timetable for state visits to the president, and he has approved it,” Yari said.
“We agreed on how it is going to be done. The PCC’s inaugural meeting will be held on October 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“And, by God’s grace, on 24 October, we are going to have our flag-off in Kaduna State,” he added.
The senator said the campaign would move to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after the Kaduna rally before proceeding to Maiduguri, Borno State.
He expressed confidence that the APC would secure a decisive victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing the party’s presence across the country and what he described as Tinubu’s growing political strength.
Yari argued that winning the presidency would require significant support from both northern and southern Nigeria, insisting that control of one region alone would not guarantee electoral victory.
“This is a calculation; it is not rocket science,” he said.
The former governor also compared the political situation with that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that Buhari’s strong support base in the North had not been sufficient to secure victory without broader support across the country.
Yari maintained that Tinubu had a strong political foothold in both regions, expressing confidence that the ruling party would perform well in the forthcoming election.
He also defended the administration’s performance, saying its achievements would form a major part of the APC’s campaign message.
“The economy is improving. So, I think we have done enough to tell our opponents what we have achieved,” he said.
“We are not promising; we are doing it, and we are going to continue,” Yari added.
West Trybe reports that the APC is expected to use the proposed state visits to showcase the administration’s policies and achievements as it prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
