last week, a round of talks lasting about eight hours was held in Washington between Lebanese representatives and Israeli officials. The discussions focused on preventing Lebanon from becoming a battlefield in the conflict involving Hezbollah.
During the meeting, Israel reportedly warned that if Hezbollah continues launching drones and attacks, its central command headquarters in Beirut could become a target.
Hezbollah has not stopped targeting Israel in southern Lebanon and has also been sending drones into northern Israel. According to Prime Minister Netanyahu, attacks cannot continue to be launched against Israel while Hezbollah’s command remains untouched.
Yesterday, Israel carried out a strike in Beirut, despite warnings from Iran and U.S. President Donald Trump that Israel should not take military action in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
Iran had warned that any strike on Beirut would prompt a strong response targeting northern Israel. Following the IDF’s strike on its target in Beirut, Israeli officials reportedly anticipated a retaliatory response from Iran.
Two hours later, Iran launched multiple wave of ballistic missiles toward Israel. Fortunately, all were intercepted, while a few fell in open areas without causing significant damage.
Minutes later, President Donald Trump was briefed on the Israel Iran conflict. According to reports from BRICS sources, Trump warned Israel against retaliating further and urged Iran to return to the negotiating table.
President Trump also said he is not happy with Israel’s initial attacks in Beirut, Lebanon which were not coordinated with US.”A deal would have been signed on Monday, Tuesday, or maybe Wednesday, but now this has happened.”
Israeli National Security Minister Ben Gvir said, “Tehran must burn tonight,” a statement that sparked widespread reactions and renewed speculation over whether Prime Minister Netanyahu would follow President Trump’s call for restraint or heed the advice of his defense and security officials in responding to the latest strikes.
Israel views the situation as one that requires careful consideration to avoid projecting weakness to its adversary, Iran. And Many Israelis believe that while Trump is losing ground at the negotiating table, military action is proving more effective.
Some have called on the U.S. and Israel to complete their operations against Iran by targeting and dismantling nuclear facilities in Isfahan and other nuclear sites across the country.
