The All Progressives Congress has unveiled its 223-member 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General of the campaign.

The campaign council, released by the Presidency on Saturday, brings together President Bola Tinubu as Chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman I and APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, as Vice Chairman II.

Yari’s appointment places the former governor at the centre of the ruling party’s campaign machinery as the APC begins to coordinate its mobilisation and electioneering activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary of the council, while Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru and Hadiza Bala Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.

The council includes serving and former governors, ministers, lawmakers, party leaders, technocrats and representatives of various interest groups across the country.

Former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, was appointed Director of Stakeholders’ Mobilisation, while former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, will coordinate stakeholders’ mobilisation in the South-West.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio was named Deputy Director-General South I, while Deputy Senate President Bamidele Opeyemi will serve as Deputy Director-General South II.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni was appointed Deputy Director-General North I, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas will serve as Deputy Director-General North II, while Senator Barau Jibrin was named Deputy Director-General North III.

Other major appointments include Senator Adams Oshiomhole as Deputy Director-General, Mobilisation; Femi Gbajabiamila as Deputy Director-General, Administration; James Faleke as Deputy Director-General, Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring; and Ibrahim Kabir Masari as Director of Logistics and Operations.

The APC also created zonal campaign coordination positions covering the six geopolitical zones.

Bassey Otu was assigned the South-South, Ndubuisi Mbah the South-East, Babajide Sanwo-Olu the South-West, Umar Bago the North-Central, Modu Sheriff the North-East and Uba Sani the North-West.

The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate includes Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; former Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Dele Alake; and Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Segun Dada was named Director of New Media, while presidential campaign spokespersons include Alake, Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Feyisetan Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

For security and intelligence, Gen. Sarki Yaki was appointed Director, with Bello Matawalle, Yusuf Gagdi, Gen. A.T. Ibrahim, Gen. Junaidu Sani Bindawa and Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo serving as deputies.

Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, was also listed among the secretaries of the directorate.

The Data Management Directorate will be headed by Dr Bisoye Coker, with Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi and Muhammad Badaru as deputies.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum was appointed one of the coordinating directors for Contact and Mobilisation, while Ayodele Olawande will oversee Youth Mobilisation and Betta Edu will head Women Mobilisation.

The campaign structure also provides for directorates covering persons with disabilities, sports, financial and technology services, extractive industries, education, manufacturing and MSMEs, support group coordination, faith-based mobilisation, protocol, labour union relations, special duties and community support.

Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, was named Director of Education Sector Mobilisation, with Suwaiba Ahmad as deputy.

The Faith-Based Mobilisation Directorate was divided into Christian and Muslim arms, with Rt Rev. Stephen Tunde Victor Adegbite appointed to lead the Christian arm and Sheikh Haliru Maraya the Muslim arm.

Nasir Idris was named Director of Labour Union Relations, with labour leader Issa Aremu and Yerima Shettima as deputies.

The Parliamentary Mobilisation Directorate also includes former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and several former presiding officers of the National Assembly.

Former governors and other prominent political figures were also included in the Stakeholders’ Mobilisation Directorate.

They include Abdullahi Adamu, Rochas Okorocha, Dauda Lawal, Ahmad Yarima, Atiku Bagudu, Gbenga Daniel and Ifeanyi Okowa.

The council’s structure further provides for state campaign coordinators, APC state executives, serving ministers, National and state assembly candidates, elected APC local government chairmen and representatives of various campaign directorates.

At the grassroots level, the campaign structure will include coordinators for agro commodities, humanitarian affairs, stakeholders’ relations, contact and mobilisation, youth, women, persons with disabilities, welfare and support groups.

The unveiling of the council signals the commencement of a broader organisational phase of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the party seeking to coordinate its national, zonal and grassroots structures under a single campaign framework.

The appointment of Yari as Director-General gives the campaign a senior political figure with experience as a former governor, senator and party leader, while the inclusion of serving governors, ministers, lawmakers and other political stakeholders is expected to strengthen the party’s mobilisation machinery across the country.

The council is expected to coordinate the APC’s campaign messaging, political mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, grassroots operations, election planning and other activities leading to the 2027 presidential election.

West Trybe reports that the 223-member campaign council represents the APC’s broadest organisational framework for the 2027 presidential contest, with the party combining political mobilisation, media strategy, grassroots engagement, data management, security coordination and sector-based outreach under the campaign structure.
