OPay IPO has been priced at $19 per American Depositary Share (ADS), marking a major milestone for the Nigerian-founded fintech company as it prepares to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on October 30, 2026. The offering involves 16 million ADSs and is expected to generate $304 million in gross proceeds, placing OPay among the African fintech companies attracting significant attention in international capital markets.
The company announced the pricing on Friday, October 30, through an official statement issued by OPay Limited. Its shares will trade under the ticker symbol OPAY, subject to the completion of the listing process.
The development marks a significant step for a financial technology platform that built much of its presence in Nigeria through digital payments, money transfers and other financial services.
OPay Sets IPO Price at $19 Per Share
According to the company’s announcement, OPay is offering 16 million American Depositary Shares at $19 each.
At that price, the offering has a gross value of $304 million before underwriting fees and other expenses.

The final price is at the lower end of the $19 to $21 range disclosed in the company’s preliminary prospectus filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Each American Depositary Share represents 10 ordinary shares in OPay Limited. This means the 16 million ADSs offered represent 160 million underlying ordinary shares.
OPay has also granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase an additional 2.4 million ADSs to cover potential over-allotments.
If exercised fully, the option would increase the total number of ADSs offered to 18.4 million.
The company expects trading to begin on the New York Stock Exchange on October 30, while the offering is scheduled to close on November 2, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
OPay IPO: Banks Managing the Offering
The public offering is being managed by a group of international financial institutions.
Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Deutsche Bank AG, Hong Kong Branch, and The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited are serving as joint book-running managers.
B. Riley Securities Inc. and Needham & Company LLC are acting as co-managers.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission declared the registration statement relating to the securities effective on October 29, clearing an important regulatory step ahead of the planned market debut.

The offering is being conducted through American Depositary Shares, which allow investors to trade securities representing shares in a foreign company on a US exchange.
What OPay Plans to Do With the IPO Proceeds
The capital raised through the public offering is expected to support OPay’s business expansion and long-term growth strategy.
In its preliminary prospectus, the company estimated that net proceeds from the IPO would amount to approximately $291 million at the initial $20 midpoint of its proposed price range, after underwriting discounts, commissions and estimated offering expenses.
That estimate was based on the earlier midpoint price, rather than the final $19 offer price.
OPay also disclosed a separate concurrent private placement expected to generate approximately $183.6 million in net proceeds.
The company intends to use the funds for general corporate purposes, including investments in technology, distribution networks, new financial solutions and market expansion. Potential acquisitions and strategic investments are also among its proposed uses.

These plans reflect OPay’s intention to expand beyond its existing operations and strengthen its position in the digital financial services market.
OPay’s Financial Performance Before the IPO
The listing comes after a period of substantial growth in the company’s transaction volumes and revenue.
According to its SEC prospectus, OPay generated $467.1 million in revenue during the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared with $197.5 million in the corresponding period of 2025.
The increase was driven largely by growth in transaction-based services and loan financing activities.
Its transaction-based revenue rose from $69.9 million to $130.6 million over the same period, representing growth of approximately 86.9%.
The company’s transaction volumes also highlight the scale of its operations.
OPay disclosed that it processed 90.1 billion transactions, representing $558 billion in gross transaction value, during the 12 months ended June 30, 2026.
Its gross transaction value for the first half of 2026 reached $339.1 billion, compared with $139.3 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

These figures provide investors with a picture of the business activity supporting its expansion into the public market.
Nigeria Remains Central to OPay’s Operations
Although OPay operates across several emerging markets, Nigeria remains central to its business.
Launched in Nigeria in 2018, the company provides digital financial services to consumers and businesses through its integrated platform.
Its services include payments, money transfers, savings, credit facilities and merchant solutions.
According to figures disclosed in its prospectus, OPay had 50.1 million monthly active users and 26.8 million daily active users as of July 31, 2026.
The company also operates in Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia, although the nature of its services differs across these markets.
OPay described its broader mission in its SEC filing, stating: “We use technology to advance financial inclusion, empowering millions of consumers and businesses with fast, reliable and secure financial services.”

The company’s growing user base and transaction volumes have become important parts of its investment proposition as it enters the international stock market.
What the NYSE Listing Means for OPay
OPay’s IPO represents a major development in the company’s corporate journey, giving it access to public capital markets and introducing its shares to a wider pool of international investors.
For Nigeria’s fintech sector, the listing also places a company with substantial operations in the country on one of the world’s most prominent stock exchanges.
However, the public offering is not simply about raising capital. Its performance on the NYSE will also expose OPay to greater scrutiny from investors, including expectations around profitability, corporate governance, competition and sustainable growth.
With its $19 offering price established and trading scheduled to begin under the OPAY ticker, attention will now turn to its market debut and how investors value the company’s prospects.
