Court orders NDLEA to produce KC Luxury after 14 days in custody as the Federal High Court in Lagos seeks answers over his continued detention in the N39bn cocaine case.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to produce social media influencer and businessman Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, after he spent 14 days in the agency’s custody without being formally charged.
Justice Friday Ogazi issued the order on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following a fundamental rights application filed by KC Luxury through his lawyer, A. Labi-Lawal, SAN. The court also directed the NDLEA to respond within five days and show cause why Michael should not be released or granted bail.
The development comes amid an ongoing NDLEA investigation into a 184.5-kilogramme cocaine consignment valued by the agency at about N39 billion.

KC Luxury Arrest And The N39bn Cocaine Case
NDLEA said operatives intercepted 184.50kg of cocaine concealed in a consignment at a courier and logistics facility in Lagos on August 3. The agency said the shipment was destined for the United Kingdom, other parts of Europe and Asia.
Following the seizure, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), said a Special Investigation Team was established to trace those behind the consignment. Ten days later, on the night of August 13, operatives arrested KC Luxury at the boarding gate of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The agency said he was preparing to travel to Paris on a business-class flight.
According to NDLEA, Michael was found with €7,750, £2,800 and N100,000, as well as jewellery. The agency also said exotic vehicles were recovered during a search of his apartment in Banana Island.
NDLEA Allegations Against KC Luxury
Afolabi Kazeem Michael, 49, became widely known online as KC Luxury through his social media presence and public display of luxury cars, watches, jewellery, designer items and international trips. NDLEA said he presented himself as a businessman involved in gold, jewellery and luxury goods but alleged that he was also the Nigerian “arrowhead” of an international cocaine trafficking organisation.

The agency said the network allegedly moved cocaine from South America through Nigeria to destinations in the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
NDLEA also arrested Lawal Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company, in connection with the investigation. The allegations have not been determined by a court, and Michael has not entered a plea in the matter.
Court Order After 14 Days In NDLEA Custody
The latest court action followed an application challenging Michael’s continued detention. According to the court proceedings, he had spent 14 days in NDLEA custody without a formal charge or arraignment.
Justice Ogazi directed the agency to produce him before the court and respond to the fundamental rights application.
The order comes days after another Federal High Court ruling granted NDLEA an additional 30 days to continue its investigation into Michael’s alleged involvement in the cocaine case.
Justice Akintayo Aluko granted that extension on August 20 after the agency sought more time to investigate the matter. The latest proceedings therefore focus specifically on the challenge to Michael’s continued detention and his request for release or bail.
184.5kg Cocaine Seizure And NDLEA Investigation

The cocaine seizure remains at the centre of the investigation. NDLEA described the 184.5kg interception as the largest quantity of cocaine it had seized through a courier company. Marwa said the consignment had an estimated value of about $27.7 million, which the agency put at approximately N39 billion.
NDLEA said its investigation involved tracing the people and businesses connected to the shipment. The agency has also said international partners were involved in efforts to identify other members of the alleged network.
What Happens Next For KC Luxury?
With the latest order, NDLEA is expected to respond to the fundamental rights application within five days of service and produce Michael before the court at the next hearing. The court’s directive does not determine whether the allegations against Michael are true. That remains a matter for the ongoing investigation and any subsequent criminal proceedings.
For now, the case places the focus on both the NDLEA’s investigation into the alleged N39 billion cocaine network and the legal challenge to KC Luxury’s continued detention.
As the proceedings continue, the court will determine the next steps concerning his detention, possible bail and any charges that may eventually be filed.
