Old ICE Arrest Clip Sparks Fresh Confusion Over Nigerian Man’s Deportation Story

ICE says Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo remains in custody pending removal as an old arrest clip continues to circulate online.

A viral online conversation has revived attention on the case of Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, a 53-year-old Nigerian national arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles on April 21, 2026. According to ICE and reports from major Nigerian media outlets, the arrest was tied to his previous sex-offence record, including child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct.

The Los Angeles Enforcement and Removal Operations office said on its official X account that Olusanjo had “previous arrests” for those offences and was being held in ICE custody pending removal. Several Nigerian news platforms later reported the same details, noting that the agency described him as a convicted sex offender and that deportation proceedings were underway.

The latest wave of attention appears to have been driven by a resurfaced arrest video that many users online treated as a fresh development. However, the most reliable reports available still place him in ICE custody, with no public confirmation in the reviewed coverage that he had already been removed from the United States.

The story also sits within a broader immigration crackdown that has seen U.S. authorities focus heavily on foreign nationals with criminal records. The Cable reported that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in February that 79 Nigerians had been arrested as part of that enforcement drive, with allegations ranging from sexual assault to fraud, robbery and kidnapping.

For WestTrybe, this story should be handled carefully and professionally, with a strong emphasis on verified facts, official attribution, and public-interest reporting rather than social media speculation.
