Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri shares her marriage journey, revealing she blocked Mr. Ezerika two days after a spiritual confirmation he was her husband.
Speaking on the DANG podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Kadiri explained that she never grew up feeling pressured about marriage and was not someone who spent time imagining or fantasising about getting married. She never felt pressured to get married while growing up and admitted she was never obsessed with weddings.
“I’ve never really been the girl who sits down and thinks about marriage. It wasn’t a thing for me. I didn’t even know whether I was going to marry. I knew I was a catch and anyone that was going to marry me was going to be lucky,” Kadiri told Agoro during the session, which circulated widely on social media by Monday, June 22, 2026.
She met her husband at a work setting, where he approached her and tried to start a conversation, and though initially uninterested, she eventually gave him a chance, and they discussed business, importation, and Vietnam. That last detail, which she volunteered without prompting, drew notable attention online.
“As I was about to walk away, the Spirit of God told me he’s my husband. Two days later, I blocked him, but he went the extra mile to find me. Four months later, he proposed to me and I accepted,” she stated. Kadiri did not name a specific location for their first encounter.
Ruth Kadiri added that she was in another relationship at the time, but she eventually went on a date with him later, and that sharing parts of her relationship publicly helped her stay committed to the journey. She declined to identify the prior partner by name.
Kadiri is married to Mr. Ezerika, a businessman originally from Anambra State. Their relationship became public after a traditional wedding on November 6, 2018, and they got engaged on December 25, 2017, in a private ceremony.
During the podcast conversation, Kadiri made clear that her marriage is not hidden, but rather intentionally private, emphasising that the decision to keep her husband out of the spotlight is a deliberate choice to avoid unnecessary drama. “For clarity, my husband is not a secret,” she stated. “People who know me, know him. And for me, that’s enough,” Ruth explained, adding that her husband is very present in her life and involved in many of her public events.
“We go to church together, we attend events together, my life is not as private as people think. In the events I organise, my husband is always there,” she told Agoro, pushing back at years of fan speculation that she was concealing her marriage entirely. Mr. Ezerika simply prefers a low-profile lifestyle and does not want to be in the spotlight.
Ruth announced her engagement in December 2017 and later married Ezerika in a private ceremony in 2018. The couple has two daughters: Reign, born in August 2019, and Emerald, born in July 2022. The couple had a quiet wedding ceremony, and Ruth has made clear that her marriage is for her, not for public entertainment.
Kadiri is a popular Nigerian actress, scriptwriter, and movie producer, and is the chief executive of Ruth Kadiri Films, a Lagos-based film production company. She added that openly sharing parts of her relationship journey helped her stay committed throughout the process, a position that tracks with her long public posture of guarding family life from industry scrutiny.
As gathered by Westtrybe, the podcast episode had drawn thousands of shares across X and Instagram by Tuesday evening, June 23, 2026, with viewers citing the blocked-number detail as the episode’s standout moment.
