Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has inaugurated 10 branded vehicles and 10 motorcycles provided to strengthen APC grassroots mobilisation in Rimi Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 elections.
The vehicles and motorcycles were provided by the governor’s Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji, as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s ward and local government structures and facilitate political engagement with communities across the area.
Radda inaugurated the vehicles and motorcycles on Tuesday at the Rimi Local Government Secretariat Complex, where he described the initiative as a demonstration of commitment to grassroots mobilisation and community development.
The governor said the turnout at the event reflected the longstanding relationship between his administration and the people of Rimi, noting that the local government had remained supportive of his political journey.
“Rimi is home to us because we know the people of Rimi, and they know us. We have seen the support of Rimi since the beginning of our political journey,” Radda said.
He said the relationship had also influenced his administration’s decision to prioritise development projects in the area, including the ongoing water project designed to extend water supply from Zobe Dam to communities in Rimi.
“We have seen the support from Rimi since the beginning of our journey. That is why, whenever we are considering important projects, Rimi Local Government is among the areas we consider,” the governor said.
Radda thanked Turaji for providing the vehicles and motorcycles, saying the initiative would strengthen grassroots engagement and support the activities of APC structures across the local government.
“We came today to inaugurate the empowerment provided by a son of Rimi, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji. We thank him for this initiative,” he said.
The governor urged APC leaders and stakeholders in Rimi to sustain grassroots mobilisation and ensure that government programmes and achievements were effectively communicated to residents.
He also assured the people of continued development interventions aimed at improving livelihoods, strengthening communities and expanding opportunities for citizens.
Radda commended lawmakers representing the constituency for their contributions to development, saying their support remained important to the progress of the state.
He also praised Turaji for what he described as loyalty, integrity and commitment, citing his long working relationship with the aide.
“I have worked with Turaji for a long time, and I have never caught him betraying the trust placed in him. I commend him for his loyalty and truthfulness,” Radda said.
Speaking earlier, Turaji said the initiative was inspired by the governor’s efforts to empower citizens and strengthen grassroots structures across Katsina State.
He said the vehicles and motorcycles were specifically provided to make it easier for ward and local government coordinators to carry out mobilisation and engage communities.
“We are emulating what you have been doing through your various empowerment initiatives across the state. Our objective is to strengthen the party and upgrade our grassroots structures,” Turaji said.
He added that the initiative would complement efforts to support young people through education, skills acquisition and other community development opportunities.
Turaji thanked the people and stakeholders of Rimi for their cooperation and participation in community meetings and grassroots engagements, assuring Radda of their continued support.
The Katsina State APC Chairman, Bashir Gambo Saulawa, said the party’s state executive committee attended the event to witness what he described as a significant grassroots empowerment initiative.
Saulawa said the vehicles and motorcycles would strengthen the party’s mobilisation structure and improve engagement with communities across Rimi.
He assured the gathering of the party’s readiness to mobilise its supporters and work towards securing its mandate in forthcoming elections.
The APC chairman also highlighted what he described as interventions by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Radda in agriculture, education, healthcare, water resources, youth empowerment and teacher recruitment, urging party stakeholders to communicate the achievements directly to citizens.
The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya Daura, said residents of Rimi were direct witnesses to development projects being implemented by the Radda administration.
He commended Turaji for supporting his community and urged residents to sustain their support for the APC while strengthening mobilisation at the grassroots.
The Chairman of Rimi Local Government stakeholders, Salisu Mamman Kadandani, described the area as an important political constituency with a longstanding relationship with Governor Radda.
Kadandani recalled Rimi’s connection with Radda’s early political journey before the creation of Charanchi Local Government and commended Turaji for providing the vehicles and motorcycles.
He also praised the governor for the Zobe Dam water project and appealed for the timely implementation of its subsequent phase.
The Chairman of Rimi Local Government, Muhammadu Ali, said residents remained committed to Radda’s administration.
“We are totally behind your leadership because we have seen the initiatives and programmes being implemented by your administration,” Ali said.
Similarly, the PBAT Coordinator in Rimi, Bilyaminu Rimi, expressed appreciation for the administration’s development interventions, particularly the Zobe Dam water project.
He pledged continued support for the APC and said the group would mobilise residents ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event was attended by members of the Katsina State Executive Council, APC leaders, government officials, local government stakeholders, ward coordinators, community leaders and supporters from Rimi.
West Trybe reports that the deployment of 10 vehicles and 10 motorcycles for APC grassroots activities in Rimi highlights the increasing focus on local-level political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, with party structures seeking to strengthen their presence and engagement across wards and communities.
