Pastor David Ibiyeomie’s curse claim has drawn a sharp response from social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), who challenged the Salvation Ministries founder to identify people he had allegedly cursed and dared him to direct the same spiritual consequences at him.

The disagreement followed a video in which Ibiyeomie spoke about his ability to pronounce curses against people who provoke or trouble him, claiming that anyone who incurs his wrath becomes useless for the rest of their life.

His remarks attracted attention after VDM responded with a video questioning the pastor’s claims, challenging his assertion of spiritual authority and criticising what he described as the use of religious influence to instil fear among worshippers.

Speaking during a church service, Ibiyeomie expressed confidence in the consequences of prayers directed against people who deliberately trouble him.

The cleric challenged those questioning his spiritual authority to investigate the circumstances of people he claimed to have previously cursed.

“Anyone who wants to trouble me, when I curse you, you are finish. Check all the social media, all the people I have cursed whether anyone is existing,” he said.

He further maintained that his prayers could affect people regardless of their positions or influence, including individuals occupying political offices.

“I know what to pray that the person will be useless for life, even those that are in political powers, when I pray against them that’s the end,” Ibiyeomie added.

The statement suggested that the pastor believes his prayers against those who provoke him can have lasting consequences, irrespective of their social or political standing.

However, he did not identify the individuals he was referring to or provide specific examples of people whose lives had allegedly been affected by his curses in the remarks.

Reacting to the cleric’s declaration, VDM dismissed the claim and challenged him to publicly identify the social media personalities he had allegedly cursed.

The activist questioned why the pastor would make such a sweeping statement without naming the individuals involved.

“All the social media people that you have cursed, call their names, I dare you. You are a liar,” VDM said.

He also accused some religious leaders of presenting themselves to their followers as individuals with extraordinary supernatural powers, arguing that such claims could make worshippers afraid to question them.

VDM particularly raised concerns about the influence of pastors over parents, especially mothers, suggesting that religious declarations about spiritual authority could be used to make families believe that opposing certain church leaders would bring serious consequences.

Rather than accepting Ibiyeomie’s declaration, the activist turned the statement into a direct challenge, daring the pastor to pronounce the same curse against him.

VDM Questions Pastors Over Tithes and Offerings

Beyond challenging Ibiyeomie’s claim, VDM used his response to criticise what he described as the practice of threatening church members with misfortune when they fail to pay tithes and offerings.

He questioned why some pastors allegedly make worshippers believe that withholding financial contributions could expose them to hardship or spiritual punishment.

The activist argued that religious leaders should not use their positions to make people believe they possess the authority to determine the fate of others.

He also referred to biblical teachings on how Christians should treat people who oppose them.

“The Bible say bless those who prosecute you, bless them and not curse. You people are not God,” he said.

His argument centred on the distinction between spiritual leadership and the authority of God, insisting that pastors should not present themselves as though they have absolute control over people’s lives.

VDM Also Questions Ibiyeomie’s $1 Million Donation Claim

The activist also brought up a separate claim concerning Ibiyeomie’s alleged donation of $1 million to God.

VDM questioned the circumstances surrounding the reported statement, raising doubts about how the pastor could have made such a contribution at the time, given what he described as his financial circumstances.

However, the donation issue was a separate part of VDM’s criticism and did not establish whether the alleged contribution was made.

His broader response remained focused on challenging the pastor’s claims about curses, questioning the use of spiritual authority and criticising religious practices that he believes could create fear among worshippers.

The exchange has brought renewed attention to questions surrounding religious influence, pastoral authority and the freedom of people to question statements made by prominent Christian leaders.

Ibiyeomie is the founder and presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, a Christian ministry headquartered in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The church was established in 1997 and operates branches in Nigeria and other countries.

VDM, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, is known for publicly challenging public figures, including politicians, celebrities and religious leaders, over statements and actions he considers controversial.

The latest disagreement places both personalities on opposing sides of a debate about the language religious leaders use when addressing critics and the extent to which spiritual authority should influence how people respond to public criticism.

While Ibiyeomie maintains that people he curses become useless for life, VDM has rejected the assertion and openly challenged him to demonstrate the claim.

For now, the disagreement remains centred on the pastor’s declaration and the activist’s response, with VDM’s challenge putting the question of spiritual authority firmly at the centre of the conversation.
