Bandits Kill Three FRSC Officers in Kebbi Ambush

Suspected bandits have killed three officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in an attack along the Tsamiya–Illo Road in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Bandits Kill Three FRSC Officers in Kebbi Ambush

The victims were identified as DCRMA Umar Aliyu, SRMA Ezra Manu Gona, and RMA I Mansur Ibrahim Nasir.

According to local sources, the officers were carrying out official duties when armed men ambushed them on the road. Witnesses said the attackers, who were riding motorcycles, opened an assault on the officers, forcing them to flee in a bid to save their lives.

A resident told our correspondent that the officers attempted to escape into a nearby bush, but the gunmen chased them down and killed them before they could reach safety.

“The officers tried to run when they noticed the attackers, but the bandits pursued them on motorcycles and caught up with them before they could escape,” the source said.

Residents said the attackers, estimated to be about 20 in number, retreated into the bush immediately after carrying out the killings.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over the growing insecurity in parts of Bagudo Local Government Area, particularly around the Tsamiya/Maje axis, where security personnel have repeatedly come under attack.

According to local accounts, this marks at least the fifth time armed groups have targeted security operatives on duty in the area.

Before the attack on the FRSC officers, more than 10 personnel from the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Police Force had reportedly been killed in separate incidents within the same axis over the past year.

The recurring attacks have raised fresh questions about security challenges in border communities and the activities of armed groups operating within the region.

As of the time of filing this report, the FRSC command in Kebbi State had not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Efforts to reach the agency’s spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful, as calls placed to the public relations officer were not returned.

The attack adds to the growing list of security concerns facing communities and security agencies across northwestern Nigeria, where armed bandit groups continue to carry out deadly assaults, kidnappings, and attacks on both civilians and security personnel.
