The Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Gombe State, Hon. Monica Yahaya Kaltho, has withdrawn her court case challenging the party’s governorship primary and declared support for the PDP candidate, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Kaltho announced her decision after consultations with the leader of the PDP in Gombe State, former Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, saying she chose party unity over personal political ambition.

The decision was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Dankwambo’s media aide, Hussaini Ali Muhammed.

According to the statement, Kaltho said she accepted the former governor’s appeal for reconciliation because the unity of the PDP and the development of Gombe State were more important than individual interests.

“I accepted his advice because the unity of the PDP and the development of Gombe State are more important than personal ambition. Every member of the party should remain committed to the collective goal of ensuring PDP’s success in 2027 and delivering quality leadership to the people of Gombe State,” Kaltho said.

She also pledged to mobilise support for Pantami’s governorship bid and work with other party stakeholders to ensure the PDP’s victory in the 2027 election.

Reacting, Pantami commended Kaltho for what he described as her maturity, patriotism and commitment to the unity of the party.

“I sincerely appreciate Hon. Monica Yahaya Kaltho for placing the interest of the party above personal ambition. Her decision demonstrates true leadership and commitment to the collective aspiration of our party,” Pantami said.

The PDP governorship candidate assured her that she remained a valuable stakeholder in the party and pledged to work with all members to strengthen the PDP ahead of the election.

Pantami also visited Kaltho at her residence to personally thank her for withdrawing the suit and endorsing his candidature, describing her action as a sacrifice made in the overall interest of the party and the people of Gombe State.

West Trybe reports that the withdrawal comes amid reconciliation efforts by the PDP leadership in Gombe State to unite aggrieved members following the governorship primary as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
