Victims trapped inside a City Boy Movement bus after a crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway could not be evacuated to a hospital because no emergency ambulance arrived at the scene, raising fresh questions about emergency response infrastructure in Nigeria.

The bus, branded with the City Boy Movement logo, was involved in the crash on Tuesday along the expressway, close to Ibadan. The incident triggered panic among motorists and passersby who witnessed the collision and attempted to alert emergency services.

People at the scene, according to the report filed from the location, made frantic efforts to pull survivors from the damaged vehicle. Yet no ambulance came. Those injured waited at the scene without any certified medical attention.

As of the time the report was filed, the number of people inside the bus had not been independently confirmed. Their medical conditions remained unclear. Whether any person died in the crash had also not been established by any authority.

No official statement had been released by emergency agencies or road safety authorities confirming casualties, fatalities, or the specific timeline of the crash by the time of publication.

The City Boy Movement, a political and social platform associated with President Bola Tinubu’s support network, operates branded buses across Nigeria as part of its mobilization activities. Thousands of such buses, bearing Tinubu campaign insignia, have been documented across states nationwide.

That detail, according to the Parallel Facts report that first published the story, frames the central contradiction. Thousands of branded vehicles exist under the Tinubu political ecosystem, yet when one was involved in a fatal crash, no ambulance was available to respond.

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, one of the busiest and most dangerous roads in Nigeria, has recorded multiple serious crashes in recent months. Emergency responders in some earlier incidents on the same route evacuated victims to hospitals after arriving at crash scenes.

Tuesday’s incident, by contrast, produced a different outcome. Bystanders and fellow motorists became the primary rescue agents, with no professional emergency presence confirmed at the scene throughout the period covered by the initial report.

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps and state emergency management agencies maintain fleets of response vehicles across the country. Why none reached the scene of the City Boy Movement bus crash within a reportable timeframe had not been explained by any official source as of Tuesday.

The absence of an ambulance at a road crash scene is not new in Nigeria. What marks this incident is the contrast the Parallel Facts report draws directly between the scale of political vehicle deployment and the failure of emergency vehicle deployment at the same moment.

Further details on the crash, including the identities of those inside the bus and whether they were eventually transported to a medical facility, were expected as authorities and emergency agencies provided updates.

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which connects Nigeria’s commercial capital to the country’s third-largest city, remains under an ongoing rehabilitation project managed by Julius Berger Nigeria and other contractors. Traffic on the corridor is heavy daily, and crash response times have drawn criticism from road safety observers in previous incidents.

City Boy Movement had not issued any public statement on the crash as of the time of this report. Neither the presidency nor any agency connected to the movement had confirmed official knowledge of the incident or its victims.

Emergency management authorities in Oyo State, where the crash occurred close to Ibadan, had also not publicly acknowledged the accident or provided figures on those involved, their condition, or the response timeline by the time this story was published.

The condition of the City Boy Movement bus crash victims along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway remains officially unknown, and no ambulance response has been confirmed, even as questions about emergency preparedness in Nigeria’s most politically visible transport corridors continue without answer.
