Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma holds the position of Secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, with former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari serving as Director-General. The video, drawn from a television broadcast, shows Uzodinma in a corridor outside the meeting room rather than inside it.

President Tinubu received Yari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the campaign council’s preparations were the subject of discussion, with Yari briefing State House correspondents afterward. Uzodinma’s position outside the room during that session is what the footage captures.
Yari announced that the council would hold its inaugural meeting on October 14, 2026, at the State House Banquet Hall, with the meeting focused on reviewing campaign preparations and securing approval for the proposed timetable and planned state visits. Uzodinma was not seen entering the room during the broadcast clip.
Online commentary split into three broad directions after the video spread. Some viewers treated it as comic material. Others raised questions about internal tensions within the ruling party. A third group offered the explanation that standard protocol keeps doors closed once the president is already seated, a position cited by several APC officials in responses posted to social media.
The lingering dispute between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and a section of APC governors has reportedly divided the party’s 31 state governors into opposing camps, with the disagreement becoming increasingly public and raising questions about how the president intends to manage the competing interests within his political camp.
The video surfaces barely two days after APC governors rejected any political alliance or arrangement they said could undermine the party or its candidates in the 2027 elections, with Uzodinma leading that position as PGF chairman.
Uzodinma said the governors would not participate in, support, or endorse any alliance capable of weakening the party or adversely affecting its candidates, a declaration widely viewed as a response to Wike’s Rainbow Coalition. That public stance places Uzodinma at the center of the party’s most visible internal dispute ahead of the 2027 vote.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike attacked Uzodinma directly, saying he is “doing rubbish” in the APC, and said governors opposing his Rainbow Coalition are acting out of selfish interests rather than concern for Tinubu. Wike made the remarks during a media interaction in Abuja, where he also defended the coalition as a legitimate political arrangement with broad support.
Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the APC Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with Yari, Uzodinma, and other party chieftains expected to play key roles in the campaign structure going into the election.
Yari confirmed that Tinubu has approved the proposed campaign timetable, with the campaign scheduled to commence in Kaduna on October 24 before moving to Port Harcourt and Maiduguri. Uzodinma, as secretary of the council, is expected to be a central figure at that inauguration.
According to briefing documents made public by the State House, Uzodinma, speaking on behalf of the governors, said the duty for carrying out the election ultimately fell on governors at the subnational level, adding that “all the APC governors are solidly behind Mr. President.”
Uzodinma’s appointment places the Imo governor at the center of the party’s national campaign structure, while Yari, as Director-General, coordinates the day-to-day activities of the campaign. Whether the video reflects a protocol detail or something more pointed remains unanswered by any official response from either the presidency or Uzodinma’s office.
No statement from the State House, the Presidential Campaign Council, or Uzodinma’s media team had addressed the video or explained the circumstances shown in the broadcast as of the time of this report.
Some APC governors have reportedly chosen to remain on the fence on internal party matters, preferring to wait for a clearer signal from Tinubu before taking definitive positions. The image of Uzodinma, the council’s secretary, outside the room where that council’s business was being conducted, will not make that fence easier to sit on ahead of the 2027 campaign.
