Lawal Ifeoluwa Benjamin, professionally known as Olasunkanmiiee, is an emerging Nigerian artist from Mushin, Lagos, whose growing musical journey is built around emotion, personal experiences, and a genuine desire to connect with listeners.

Born and raised in Mushin, Olasunkanmiiee experienced both the happy and challenging sides of growing up. Those experiences helped shape his character and gave him values that continue to guide him today.

From his family, he learned the importance of respect, honesty, humility, discipline, responsibility, and hard work. He was also taught to treat people with kindness and never give up, even when things become difficult. These lessons have stayed with him as he continues to find his feet in the music industry.

When Music Became a Calling

Music started as something Olasunkanmiiee simply enjoyed. But as he grew older, he began to understand what music meant to him.

He was drawn to the way a song could express emotions, tell a story, bring people together, or speak to someone going through a difficult moment. Eventually, he realised that music was more than a hobby. It was something he wanted to take seriously and build a future around.

His decision to pursue music professionally did not come without concern from his family. They knew the industry could be unpredictable and understood the challenges that come with trying to build a career as an artist.

However, his commitment gradually changed their perspective.

As they saw his passion and determination grow, they became more supportive of his decision. Today, their encouragement remains important to him, especially as he continues to navigate the early stages of his career.

Music That Comes From Experience

Olasunkanmiiee describes his sound as emotional, authentic, and versatile.

His music is influenced by real experiences and emotions, with a focus on stories that listeners can understand and relate to. For him, making music is not simply about creating something people can dance to or listen to casually.

He wants his songs to make people feel something.

Whether the feeling is love, hope, pain, motivation, or reflection, Olasunkanmiiee hopes listeners can find something personal in his music. His biggest aim is to create records that remind people that whatever they are facing, they are not alone.

That connection with his audience is at the heart of the artist he is becoming.

A Growing Catalogue

Olasunkanmiiee has already begun building his catalogue with songs including “Melo,” “Mr Lover,” “Asiko,” and “2011.”

Each release represents a different stage of his development, but “Melo” holds a particularly special place in his heart.

The song carries an emotional meaning that he feels strongly connected to, making it more than just another release in his catalogue.

As he continues to record and experiment with his sound, Olasunkanmiiee hopes every new song will show a little more of his growth without losing the honesty that defines his music.

The “Igba” Connection

His journey has also brought him into the studio with fellow artist DAMILEXY for the song “Igba.”

The collaboration came naturally from their shared interest in creating meaningful music. Rather than simply making a record for the sake of having a collaboration, both artists wanted to create something with a message that listeners could also enjoy and relate to.

For Olasunkanmiiee, the experience was a chance to bring his creative energy together with another artist and see what they could create.

The result is a collaboration he is proud of, and one that forms part of his continuing development as an artist.

The Challenges Behind the Music

The finished song is often the part listeners hear, but getting there can be a different story.

One of Olasunkanmiiee’s biggest challenges has been working with producers and communicating exactly how he wants a song to sound. Sometimes the idea in an artist’s head does not immediately translate into the first version of a recording.

Learning how to communicate those ideas has taken patience.

It has also taught him to listen, compromise when necessary, and understand that music is often a collaborative process. Those experiences have helped him grow not only as an artist but also as someone learning how to work with different personalities and creative approaches.

Interestingly, some of his favourite moments happen during this process.

He enjoys watching a simple idea develop in the studio until it becomes a finished song. That transformation—from an idea to something other people can hear—is one of the things that continues to remind him why he chose music.

Learning From the SWAG Concert

Another experience that stands out in his journey was his selection to participate as an artist at the SWAG concert.

Although he did not win the competition, the experience gave him something valuable: exposure.

It allowed him to perform, meet other artists, build relationships, and expand his network. For a young artist still finding his way, those connections and experiences can be just as important as winning a competition.

Rather than focusing on what he did not win, Olasunkanmiiee chose to appreciate what the opportunity gave him.

It became another lesson in understanding that every stage of an artist’s journey comes with something to learn.

What Comes Next

Olasunkanmiiee is now looking ahead to the next phase of his career.

He is working on more music and collaborations that he believes will reflect his growth while staying true to his identity. Fans can expect fresh sounds, meaningful lyrics, good vibes, and music created with genuine emotion.

He is particularly interested in continuing to explore his creativity and allowing listeners to discover different sides of him through his music.

For Olasunkanmiiee, growth does not mean changing who he is. It means becoming better at expressing who he already is.

A Message for Young Dreamers

If there is one lesson Olasunkanmiiee wants to share with other young people chasing their dreams, it is simple: believe in yourself and do not give up.

He knows the road will not always be smooth. There will be disappointments, slow periods, difficult decisions, and moments when things do not happen as quickly as expected.

But he believes that consistency, patience, dedication, and hard work can make the difference.

He also encourages young creatives to stay true to themselves, keep learning, and not allow setbacks to determine how far they will go.

For him, the journey matters as much as the destination.

From Mushin, Lagos, to the recording studio, live performances, collaborations, and the projects still ahead, Olasunkanmiiee is gradually building his identity as an artist.

He is still at the beginning of his story, but the direction is becoming clearer.

There are more songs to make, more stages to conquer, and more stories waiting to be told.

And for an artist who wants his music to be felt as much as it is heard, Olasunkanmiiee is only getting started.
