Tiwa Savage has released her new single, African Baddie, on October 30, 2026, following an online exchange in which the Nigerian singer dismissed criticism about her age and her decision to embrace the title. The release comes amid conversations about her response to a social media user, her interaction with TikTok personalities Peller and Jarvis, and their request for her to become the godmother to their expected child.
The award-winning Afrobeats singer attracted attention after a man questioned whether someone in her 40s should describe herself as an African Baddie. Rather than ignore the comment, Tiwa responded directly, correcting his assumption about her age and using the opportunity to announce her new music.
Her response quickly became another talking point surrounding the release, while her interactions with Peller and Jarvis added a separate, more personal dimension to the singer’s recent public appearances.
Tiwa Savage Releases New Single African Baddie
Tiwa Savage officially released African Baddie on Friday, October 30, 2026, introducing a new addition to her music catalogue.
The singer had announced the forthcoming release while responding to criticism about the song’s title and her use of the word ‘baddie‘.
Before its release, promotional announcements circulated on social media, inviting fans to pre-save the single ahead of its scheduled arrival.
African Baddie is particularly interesting because its title became part of an online conversation before listeners could even get their hands on the complete record.
Tiwa has long been associated with the African Bad Gyal identity, a description that has featured prominently in her public image. The new title also draws on that established identity, presenting a familiar side of the singer through a fresh musical release.
The single arrived on October 30, the exact date she mentioned while responding to her critic.
Tiwa Savage Fires Back at Man Over African Baddie
The conversation took a different turn after a social media user questioned the singer’s decision to call herself an African Baddie.
In his post, the man wrote: “African baddie at 40… this one no serious.“
The comment suggested that Tiwa was too old to embrace the description, prompting the singer to respond with a correction and a confident declaration.
She wrote: “46, fine, paid, unbothered and dropping my super hottttt record ‘African Baddie’ on Friday. What exactly is the problem, boy?😂 #AfricanBaddie.”
Her response made it clear that she was not prepared to let someone else’s opinion determine how she described herself.
Tiwa also corrected the man’s reference to her age, pointing out that she was 46 rather than 40.
Beyond addressing the criticism, she turned the exchange into an opportunity to publicise her forthcoming single, effectively bringing attention to African Baddie before its release.
The singer’s response also revived conversations around age, confidence and the expectations placed on female entertainers, particularly when it comes to how they present themselves publicly.
Peller and Jarvis Want Tiwa Savage as Their Baby’s Godmother
Away from the African Baddie controversy, Tiwa Savage has also been involved in an interesting exchange with Nigerian TikTok personalities Peller and Jarvis.
The couple, who announced that they were expecting a child together on October 8, brought the singer into their conversation about the arrival of their baby.
During a TikTok livestream on October 18, Peller sent Tiwa virtual gifts reportedly worth $3,000, explaining that he wanted to appreciate her for an earlier gesture.
He recalled that Tiwa was the first person to give him the experience of travelling on a private jet.
Explaining why he made the gesture, Peller said: “I’m gifting you because you were the first person to put me on a private jet. Now that I’ve made money, it’s time for me to start taking care of you.”
Tiwa responded playfully by declaring herself the godmother of their expected child.
“I’m godmother,” she announced.
Peller appeared surprised by the declaration and questioned what she meant, particularly because he and Jarvis had not yet revealed their baby’s gender.
The exchange generated laughter, with the singer maintaining her position during the conversation.
Tiwa Savage Says She Must Pray Before Accepting Godmother Role
The conversation surrounding the proposed godmother role continued during a subsequent interaction involving Peller and Jarvis.
When the possibility of becoming their child’s godmother came up, Tiwa indicated that she would not make the decision without first seeking God’s approval.
Rather than immediately giving the couple a definite answer, she explained that she needed to pray about the responsibility.
“Godmother, let’s think about it. You know what, what I really should do is pray about it because I need to ask God His consent,” she said.
She further explained her position, adding: “You know, in everything, we have to go to God in everything we do. So you have to go to God and ask Him first. So, and if God says no, then I don’t know.”
Her response introduced a more serious note into what had largely been a playful conversation.
Although Tiwa had earlier jokingly declared herself godmother during the October 18 livestream, her subsequent remarks showed that she wanted to approach the responsibility with prayer and consideration.
She did not give a final confirmation of the arrangement in that later exchange.
What Comes Next for Tiwa Savage?
With African Baddie now released, attention will turn to how fans receive the new single and whether the conversation surrounding its title translates into wider interest in the music.
The singer has also demonstrated that she is comfortable embracing her identity without allowing social media criticism to dictate how she presents herself.
Meanwhile, the question of whether she will officially become the godmother to Peller and Jarvis’s child remains open.
For now, African Baddie marks the latest development in Tiwa Savage’s music career, while her exchanges with the TikTok couple have given fans another glimpse of her playful side and the importance she places on prayer when considering personal commitments.
