UAE fuel prices rise for September as petrol and diesel rates increase, while Indonesia raises Dexlite diesel by 29.5% from September 1.

UAE fuel prices increased across all petrol grades and diesel from September 1, while Indonesia also introduced a sharp increase on selected premium fuel products, including a 29.5% jump for Dexlite diesel.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee approved higher September rates on August 31, with the changes taking effect nationwide at the start of the month. In Indonesia, the increase was more targeted, with subsidised fuels left unchanged.

UAE Fuel Prices Increase Across All Grades

The new UAE rates are:

Super 98: Dh3.80 per litre, up from Dh3.60 in August

Special 95: Dh3.69 per litre, up from Dh3.49

E-Plus 91: Dh3.61 per litre, up from Dh3.41

Diesel: Dh4.30 per litre, up from Dh3.80

All four categories increased from their August levels. Petrol prices rose by 20 fils per litre, while diesel recorded a larger 50-fils increase.

The diesel increase amounts to about 13%, making it the sharpest percentage increase among the UAE’s fuel categories for September.

For motorists, the difference becomes clearer over a full tank. A 60-litre Super 98 fill now costs about Dh228, compared with Dh216 in August. The same-sized diesel tank rises from about Dh228 to Dh258.

The UAE reviews fuel prices monthly under a market-based system that takes global energy prices and domestic market conditions into account.

Global Oil Market Keeps Pressure on Fuel Rates

The latest increase comes as international oil markets remain volatile. Brent crude had moved above $94 per barrel during August, while WTI reached about $87 as geopolitical tensions pushed prices higher. The market later eased, but uncertainty remained heading into September.

The UAE’s fuel pricing system means changes in international oil markets can eventually be reflected at local filling stations.

That has made the direction of crude prices particularly important for motorists and businesses trying to plan their monthly fuel expenses.

Indonesia Diesel Prices Jump 29.5%

Indonesia also started September with a significant increase, but the adjustment was concentrated on premium fuel products.

Dexlite diesel rose by 29.5% to Rp23,700 per litre from September 1. Pertamina Dex also increased by 19.1% to Rp25,200 per litre, while Pertamax Turbo rose by 7.1% to Rp19,600 per litre.

However, not every fuel product became more expensive.

Pertamax remained at Rp15,950 per litre, Pertamax Green 95 stayed at Rp16,600, while subsidised Pertalite and Biosolar remained at Rp10,000 and Rp6,800 respectively.

The distinction is important because the 29.5% increase applies specifically to Dexlite rather than the entire Indonesian fuel market.

What the September Fuel Increase Means

For UAE motorists, the immediate effect is straightforward: every petrol grade costs more, while diesel has taken the biggest jump.

A 60-litre Special 95 tank now costs about Dh221.40, compared with Dh209.40 in August. That is an additional Dh12 for each equivalent fill-up.

Diesel users face a larger increase. A 60-litre tank now costs about Dh258, which is Dh30 more than the previous month. The higher diesel rate could also matter for businesses that rely heavily on diesel-powered vehicles, particularly transport and logistics operators.

In Indonesia, the impact is more limited because subsidised fuels were not increased. The biggest change is being felt by users of premium diesel products such as Dexlite and Pertamina Dex.

Fuel Prices Enter September With Oil Markets in Focus

The September increases highlight how closely fuel prices remain tied to developments in the wider oil market.

The UAE will review its fuel rates again toward the end of September for October. Whether prices rise again or ease will depend largely on movements in crude oil and other market conditions.

For now, motorists in the UAE are starting September with higher pump prices, while Indonesian users of premium diesel products are also facing a noticeable increase.

The biggest immediate change is clear: UAE diesel has climbed to Dh4.30 per litre, while Indonesia’s Dexlite has jumped 29.5% as the new September fuel rates take effect.
