UNILAG 2026/2027 UTME cut-off marks have been released, giving admission seekers the departmental merit and catchment scores for the new academic session.
The UNILAG 2026/2027 UTME cut-off marks are now available, with the University of Lagos publishing the official departmental admission figures on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The release gives prospective students a clearer picture of the scores required for merit consideration across different undergraduate programmes.
The university published the figures for prospective students, parents, guardians and other members of the public, covering individual programmes under several faculties. Unlike a single general figure for every course, the published list shows that admission thresholds vary considerably depending on the programme and, where applicable, the candidate’s catchment state.
UNILAG 2026/2027 admission cut-off marks
The newly released figures include both merit scores and catchment scores for candidates from Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states.
For some of the most competitive programmes, the required scores are notably high.
Medicine and Surgery has a merit cut-off of 83.425, while Dentistry stands at 79.025. Computer Science has a merit score of 82.05, while Mass Communication is listed at 74.6.
Other figures include Architecture at 72.9, English at 68.15, History and Strategic Studies at 70.8, Linguistics at 72.575, Pharmacy at 78.325, and Medical and Laboratory Science at 75.075.
The list also covers newer and emerging areas. Artificial Intelligence has a merit cut-off of 53.2, while Software Engineering is 59.25 and Cybersecurity is 66.075.
Data Science carries a considerably higher merit score of 77.25.
Catchment scores vary by state
One important feature of the UNILAG 2026/2027 admission cut-off marks is the inclusion of state-specific catchment figures.
For Medicine and Surgery, for example, the published figures are 79.425 for Ekiti, 79.1 for Lagos, 81.75 for Ogun, 81.35 for Ondo, 79.825 for Osun and 80.05 for Oyo, compared with the general merit figure of 83.425.
The same pattern appears across several other programmes. Computer Science has a merit score of 82.05, with the listed catchment figures ranging from 73.225 for Lagos to 79.875 for Oyo. Mass Communication has a merit score of 74.6, while its published catchment figures include 64.275 for Ekiti, 72.45 for Lagos and 73.025 for Ogun.
However, not every programme has a catchment figure for every listed state. The university’s table uses “NIL” where a particular catchment score is not provided. Candidates should therefore check the exact entry for their programme and state instead of assuming that one catchment arrangement applies across the board.
Some courses have lower or unavailable figures
The published table also shows substantial differences between programmes.
Within the Faculty of Education, for instance, Education Economics has a merit score of 49.65, while Adult Education is 59.325 and Education English is 66.475. In the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics is 73.625, Political Science is 65.65, Psychology is 70.15, and Public Administration is 70.475.
Some programmes are marked NIL for both merit and catchment categories. These entries should not be interpreted as ordinary numerical cut-off marks. Candidates interested in such programmes should rely on the university’s official admission information for clarification.
What UNILAG candidates should do next
The release comes after UNILAG completed important stages of its 2026/2027 admission process. The university had earlier announced that candidates who selected UNILAG as their first choice and scored at least 200 in the UTME were eligible to apply for the Post-UTME screening, subject to other requirements.
UNILAG subsequently announced on August 7 that results of the 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening Exercise had been released for candidates who participated in the exercise.
Candidates should therefore compare their own admission details with the specific programme they applied for and pay attention to the applicable merit or catchment figure. Meeting a published cut-off should also be understood in the context of the university’s wider admission requirements and process rather than as a substitute for every other eligibility condition.
The university had previously warned prospective candidates against relying on unofficial information about the admission exercise. In a June 19 notice, UNILAG specifically advised applicants and members of the public to use its official communication channels for information on Post-UTME screening, eligibility, cut-off marks, programmes and other admission updates.

The complete 2026/2027 UNILAG UTME Merit Admission Cut-Off Marks are published on the university’s official website, with programme-by-programme merit and catchment figures. The list covers faculties including Architecture, Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, Computing and Informatics, Creative Arts, Dental Sciences, Education and Social Sciences, among others.
For admission seekers, the release removes an important uncertainty in the 2026/2027 admission cycle. Rather than relying on general estimates circulating online, candidates can now check the official figure attached to their chosen programme and state.
The safest approach is to use the official UNILAG publication as the reference point and verify any further admission instruction directly through the university’s communication channels.
