The All Progressives Congress has unveiled its National Campaign Council and 12 specialised sub-committees to coordinate the party’s campaign for the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.
The party announced the composition of the campaign council in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, saying the inauguration would take place on Tuesday, July 28, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja.
According to the statement, the National Campaign Council will be chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni; President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, will serve as co-chairmen, while the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, is the deputy chairman.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, will serve as secretary of the council.
The APC said the campaign council comprises governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, and other party stakeholders drawn from across the country.
The party also constituted specialised sub-committees on election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, and secretariat functions.
According to the statement, the committees were established to ensure effective coordination and smooth execution of campaign activities ahead of the poll.
