Nollywood stars have rallied support for veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, after his daughters made an emotional public appeal for medical assistance as the actor battles stage-four cancer and faces a shortage of available treatment options.

Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo posted an appeal on his X page on Monday, urging members of the public to help the family locate medical professionals and facilities capable of reviewing Hassan’s medical records and providing treatment options for the ailing actor.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote in his post, directing the appeal to followers and the broader public on the platform.
Adebayo stated that the family was not requesting financial help but needed urgent medical direction, specifying that what the family required was guidance from professionals in the oncology field and access to viable treatment centers anywhere in the world that had experience handling advanced cancer cases.
“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction,” Adebayo stated in the post, making clear that donations were not the concern of the family at this time.
He called for recommendations for standard hospitals, specialists, and advanced treatment centers anywhere in the world that could review Hassan’s medical files, asking that any person with useful contacts share them with the family without delay.
“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space or a medical avenue that can assist, please help reach out to his family immediately,” Adebayo wrote, urging followers to keep sharing the appeal until it reached people with the ability to assist.
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the support effort on Tuesday, sharing a video of Hassan’s daughters on her Instagram page and directing those who could help to contact the daughters directly or reach out to her personally.
“Pls kindly send a DM to @kira\_taiwo, @limataiwo\_, or me, pls,” Abraham wrote in her caption, adding that any form of assistance from members of the public and medical professionals would be welcomed by the family.
The public responses from Adebayo and Abraham followed separate Instagram appeals published by Hassan’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, on Monday, in which both women asked Nigerians and medical professionals to help their father access cancer treatment.
Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated and that hospitals had refused to continue treating him, a development that left the family searching for alternative medical facilities willing to take on his case and provide a treatment plan.
Kira said the actor could no longer receive chemotherapy at his current hospital, adding urgency to the family’s search for a new facility or specialist with the capacity to manage a stage-four cancer diagnosis and administer appropriate care.
Both daughters stressed that the family was not seeking money but needed medical assistance that could give their father another chance at treatment, a message that Adebayo and Abraham each amplified to their respective audiences on social media. The coordinated effort across multiple platforms reflected a broader hope that visibility would translate into practical help for the family.
Hassan, 66, is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades. He has featured in more than 300 films and is one of the recognizable figures in Yoruba cinema, with a profile built across decades of consistent work.
The appeals by family members and colleagues reflect the scale of public concern surrounding the health condition of Taiwo Hassan, known widely as Ogogo, as his daughters continue to seek a specialist or facility willing to review his case and offer treatment.
