Afrobeats superstar Davido is set to begin a bold new chapter. The five-time Grammy-nominated artist has announced his sixth studio album, ORIADÉ, slated for release on July 31, 2026, the exact day he marks 15 years since breaking into the music industry.
The announcement came with a cinematic trailer and a message that instantly set social media ablaze: “ORIADÉ. 31st JULY. The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne.”
A Title Rooted In Destiny
The name ORIADÉ is not just artistic. It’s personal. Derived from the Yoruba words ori meaning head or destiny, and adé meaning crown, ORIADÉ translates to “the crowned head” or “the crown follows destiny”. For Davido, born David Adeleke of the royal Adeleke family in Ede, Osun State, the title ties directly to lineage, identity, and purpose.
In interviews, Davido described the project as a reflection of where he is now.“Over fifteen years ago, I decided to trust something I couldn’t fully explain… I just knew music was my destiny. ORIADÉ is a celebration of the journey that led me to where I am now”. He added: “It’s about understanding that before the world recognizes you, before the accolades, before the success, there’s a version of you that already knows who you’re meant to become”.
The trailer matches that energy. Davido appears in an embroidered wine-and-black traditional outfit adorned with beads, flanked by a throne and a crown, a visual declaration of royalty, purpose, and fulfillment.
A Return To Sound and Story
ORIADÉ arrives as the official follow-up to his 2025 album 5ive, which earned him another top-five entry on the Billboard World Albums chart and featured collaborations with Victoria Monét, YG Marley, Shenseea, Chris Brown, Becky G, and Omah Lay.
This time, the approach is different. Reports describe the 13-track ORIADÉ as a deliberate shift back to Davido’s original, high-energy African sound, rather than heavily pop-focused crossovers. It’s positioned as his most intentional and honest body of work to date, exploring themes of purpose, identity, family, brotherhood, gratitude, faith, and the enduring spirit of Nigerian excellence.
Leading the rollout is the single I Know Who I Be
Released on June 26. The track, featuring South African producers Jazzwrld and GL Ceejay, is an uplifting anthem centered on self-belief and embracing one’s identity. It serves as the opening chapter of the album’s broader narrative.
15 Years Of Global Impact
The timing of ORIADÉ is significant. Davido rose to fame in 2012 with Dami Duro from his debut album Omo Baba Olowo. Since then he has released A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), Timeless (2023), and 5ive (2025).
The last few years have been milestone-heavy. He completed a sold-out 42-date 5ive Alive Tour, made his historic Coachella debut, and earned a Grammy nomination for “With You” featuring Omah Lay. He also appeared on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack with “No Place Like Home” alongside Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado.
With over 30 million followers across social media, Davido remains the most-followed Afrobeats artist in the world. Through DMW, the label he founded in April 2016, he has also nurtured a new generation of Nigerian talent.

Pre-orders for ORIADÉ are already live. While the full tracklist and collaborators have not yet been announced, Davido has set an exclusive live premiere for August 11 at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London.
