Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have secured the release of a civilian abducted along Cubana Street in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State following a search-and-rescue operation.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 10:05pm on October 18, prompting troops from Sectors 1 and 3 to launch an operation to locate the victim and track down the abductors.
The sources said the troops subsequently searched Dutsen Kura, Rafin Bauna and Rafiki communities in an effort to rescue the victim and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Although the search initially yielded no contact DMCAwith the abductors, the victim was later released following sustained pressure from the security forces.
The rescued civilian was subsequently reunited with his family, according to the sources.
The sources added that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the suspects, who fled after releasing the victim.
They said troops would sustain security operations in the area to prevent further abductions and improve the safety of residents.
The incident highlights continuing security concerns in parts of Plateau State, where residents rely on coordinated security operations to respond to abductions and other criminal activities.
West Trybe reports that the civilian’s release brings relief to the victim’s family, while the ongoing search for the fleeing suspects underscores the importance of sustained security operations to deter further kidnappings and protect communities in Bassa Local Government Area.
