Popular Kannywood actor, singer and filmmaker Adam A. Zango has married again in the Republic of Niger, saying he entered the new union with the hope of finding happiness, peace and fulfilment.
The wedding took place on Friday, August 14, 2026, during the Islamic month of Rabi’ul Awwal, with the actor subsequently appealing to his fans and supporters to pray for the success and longevity of his new marriage.
Zango disclosed his position in a video shared after the wedding ceremony, where he expressed gratitude to Allah for enabling him to enter another chapter of his life.
The actor also addressed criticism surrounding his decision to marry again, particularly comments from some fans and members of the public who questioned his history of marriages.
He maintained that he had never entered any of his previous marriages with the intention of ending them, insisting that the breakdown of a marriage was ultimately a matter of destiny.
“I have never married any woman with the intention of divorcing her. Whatever happened in my previous marriages was destiny,” Zango said.
He urged his critics and supporters alike to understand that marriage was a personal decision and asked his followers to pray for him rather than judge his choice.
“I am asking you all to pray for me. I want peace, happiness and stability in this marriage,” he said.
Zango further expressed appreciation to Allah, saying he was hopeful that the latest union would bring him the peace and fulfilment he desired.
“I entered this marriage with the hope of finding happiness and fulfilment, especially in this blessed month of Rabi’ul Awwal,” he stated.
The actor’s latest marriage has renewed public interest in his marital history, having become one of the most discussed personalities in Kannywood because of his previous marriages.
Zango’s first reported marriage was to Amina in 2006. According to a 2019 report by Daily Trust, the union produced his first son, Haidar, before the marriage ended in divorce.
He subsequently married A’isha from Shika in Zaria, who reportedly had three sons with him. His third reported wife was identified as Maryam from Nasarawa State. He later married actress Maryam Abdullahi, popularly known as Maryam AB Yola, in Lugbe, Abuja, in 2013.
In 2015, Zango reportedly entered another marriage with Ummul Kulsum from Ngaoundere, Cameroon. The union produced his daughter, Murjanatu. In 2019, he was reported to be preparing to marry Safiya Umar Chalawa, popularly known as Suffy, in what was described at the time as his sixth marriage.
More recently, Zango married Salamatu, a fellow actress associated with the television series Garwashi, in 2025. The Guardian reported that the marriage was his sixth since he began his marital journey, illustrating the differing ways his marriages have been counted in public reports.
Because accounts of Zango’s marital history differ, the identity and numbering of his wives have not always been consistently reported. Earlier reports, for instance, listed Amina, A’isha, Maryam, Maryam AB Yola and Ummul Kulsum among his previous wives before his planned 2019 marriage to Safiya Umar Chalawa.
The latest wedding in Niger therefore represents another significant development in the personal life of one of Kannywood’s most recognisable actors.
Beyond his acting career, Zango has built a reputation as a singer, producer and filmmaker and has remained a prominent figure in the Hausa-language entertainment industry.
His marriages have also attracted considerable public attention over the years, with the actor at different times responding to criticism over his personal life.
In a 2013 interview, Zango pushed back against criticism of his marriages, arguing that people often judged him without knowing what happened within his relationships.
The latest development comes as Zango continues to maintain a strong following among Hausa-language film audiences across Nigeria and beyond.
West Trybe reports that Zango’s latest marriage has once again placed his personal life in the spotlight, but the actor’s message following the ceremony has centred on gratitude, prayer and his desire for a peaceful and lasting home.
