Popular Kannywood actor and singer, Adam A. Zango, has divorced his seventh wife, former Kannywood actress Maimuna Musa, one year after their marriage, reigniting public attention over his long history of failed marriages.
The development was confirmed on Friday by prominent Kannywood actor, Ali Rabi’u Ali Daddy, a close associate of Maimuna, who said he spoke directly with her following reports of the separation.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, Ali Daddy said Maimuna confirmed that Zango had divorced her and was already on her way back to Kano from Kaduna after the marriage ended.
“I spoke with Maimuna personally, and she confirmed that the marriage has ended. She is currently on her way back to Kano. We still hope discussions can take place to resolve the matter. People should either pray for them or remain silent,” he said.
The latest divorce makes Maimuna Musa the seventh woman Zango has married, further fueling public debate over his repeated marital breakdowns.
Over the years, the Kannywood star has been married to Amina (popularly known as Mama Haidar), Aisha, Maryam, Maryam Abdullahi Yola, Ummul Kulsum, Safiya Umar Chalawa and, most recently, Maimuna Musa. Most of the marriages ended in divorce.
Zango has previously acknowledged marrying multiple times and is a father to children from different marriages.
His repeated divorces have often attracted criticism within Kannywood and among fans, with many accusing him of engaging in aure saki—a Hausa expression describing the repeated pattern of marrying and divorcing spouses after relatively short periods.
Neither Zango nor Maimuna has publicly disclosed the circumstances surrounding the latest divorce.
West Trybe reports that the latest separation has once again placed the actor’s private life under public scrutiny, with many fans expressing surprise that his seventh marriage also ended in divorce barely one year after it was contracted.
