Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has announced the birth of his son, King Kagar Omiyinka, with wife Luminee, months after his release from a Lagos prison.
Olanrewaju Omiyinka, the Yoruba film actor known across Nigeria by his stage name Baba Ijesha, confirmed on Monday the arrival of a baby boy, sharing the news through his personal Instagram account alongside a maternity photoshoot featuring himself and his wife.

The post went live by evening. It drew hundreds of congratulatory messages within the first hour from fans and colleagues, many of whom had tracked his difficult return to public life since November 2025.
The actor named the child King Kagar Omiyinka, a name that carries unmistakable weight for a man who spent years inside a Lagos correctional facility. The baby is the first child Omiyinka and celebrity stylist Luminee have welcomed together. Short. Direct. Joyful, by every measure the Instagram post allowed.
Luminee posted separately on her own Instagram page, announcing the arrival of their son and expressing gratitude, writing: “We are overwhelmed with joy. Our little star has arrived to light up our lives. Our lives are complete.” She also praised Omiyinka as a supportive partner, expressing appreciation for his role throughout their journey to parenthood.
The Actor’s Own Words on King Kagar Omiyinka
In the caption on his page, Omiyinka did not address his legal history directly. He kept the language personal, spiritual, and pointed. He wrote: “In quiet ways, in unseen ways, God has been writing a story only He could tell. We thank the Almighty for blessing us with a healthy baby boy.” He then named his wife by her Instagram handle, ceolumineeofficial, calling her “strong Jagaban” before formally introducing their son to his followers.
Baba Ijesha’s Background: Prison, Release, and a Contested Narrative
Nobody arrives at this headline without the weight of what came before it. Omiyinka served a five-year jail term over sexual assault charges brought against him by comedian Damilola Adekoya, known as Princess, who in 2021 accused the actor of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster daughter at her Lagos residence, an allegation that led to his arrest, trial, and conviction.
An Ikeja Special Offences Court convicted and sentenced him to 16 years’ imprisonment in July 2022. Seven years became five. Baba Ijesha regained his freedom in November 2025, and since his release, he has granted interviews and released a song, “Eniwaye Dáràn,” to assert his innocence in the case.
His Career Before the Conviction
Born October 28, 1972, Omiyinka built his name as a Nigerian actor, producer, director, and comedian, becoming famous particularly for his roles in Yoruba productions, including Afefe Ife and Ololo. His professional career started in television soap opera, and he later came into the spotlight following his appearance in Saheed Balogun’s film “Omo Orita.”
He has starred in more than 50 productions over a career stretching four decades. The birth of King Kagar Omiyinka does not erase the court record. But on Monday evening on a Lagos Instagram feed, Baba Ijesha marked it as a beginning, and thousands agreed, in comments, to witness it.
