For the entirety of the minute-long exchange, Oulehla did not look at Jašková once. The video, posted through the club’s own social media channels, showed Oulehla in a navy sweater directing his gaze in every direction except toward the presenter standing beside him with a pink microphone. The clip was filmed pitchside following a league fixture and uploaded within hours of the final whistle.

The interview followed another defeat for the club. Yet the result was barely the headline. What viewers fixated on was the visible, almost athletic effort Oulehla made to avoid looking at Jašková throughout the entire conversation.
When the moment went viral, Oulehla explained his behavior plainly. “She forbids me from looking at them. My wife is waiting for me at home, so I have to obey,” he said, confirming the avoidance was deliberate and premeditated, not accidental.
Oulehla is the manager of FK Viagem Ústí nad Labem, which competes in the Czech National Football League, the country’s second tier.
He took charge of the club in June after a spell at Slovak side Skalica. Before Skalica, his managerial career included stints at FK Varnsdorf and Viktoria Žižkov, both clubs competing in the Czech football pyramid.
Fans joked that the manager was “fighting for his life” as he avoided eye contact with Jašková, who stood beside him in a white power suit. One fan’s response, quoted online, read: “His wife is watching…total respect for the control of his eyes!”
Another fan edited Jašková’s outfit in the clip to cover her up, writing, “solved!” The video accumulated reactions from sports fans across multiple countries, generating commentary in Croatian, Bulgarian, Spanish, French, and English, among other languages. Several football-focused pages with hundreds of thousands of followers reposted the clip without any additional context.
Oulehla did not attempt to deny what the clip showed. His explanation, delivered after the interview, was short and offered no ambiguity. He confirmed that his reasons were domestic: “My wife doesn’t allow me to look at them. She’s waiting for me at home, so I have to listen,” he told local media.
The clip spread partly because the explanation matched the footage precisely. Viewers could watch Oulehla visibly work to keep his gaze elsewhere, and his confirmation that the behavior was a direct response to his wife’s instruction gave the moment its particular charge online.
Oulehla became a meme after the exchange, with the clip shared widely beyond Czech football circles. Social media accounts across Europe reposted the video, attaching their own commentary to the footage before Oulehla’s explanation was even widely known.
Nothing in Oulehla’s post-defeat remarks addressed the match itself in any of the reports that circulated globally. Every outlet that covered the story focused entirely on the eye contact, or lack of it, and the domestic arrangement behind it.
Jašková, who uses the Instagram account @sabina_j96, had her profile traffic spike following the clip’s circulation. She shares content related to her activities outside football, and the interview with Oulehla placed her name before a significantly larger audience than before, with her follower count rising noticeably in the days immediately after the video spread.
Oulehla coaches Viagem Ústí nad Labem in the Czech second tier. The club had not, as of the time of the clip’s spread, issued a formal comment on the interview or on the global attention the moment generated for their post-match media operation.
What the clip did not show was any moment where Oulehla’s discipline slipped. During the almost one-minute interview, he did not look toward Jašková a single time, a fact that only amplified the reaction online once his explanation for why became public.
The viral Czech football coach interview, featuring David Oulehla and Sabina Jašková, continues to circulate, with no indication the attention is slowing down.
