Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged residents of Kankara Local Government Area to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
Radda made the appeal on Wednesday at the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 campaign rally in Kankara, where he highlighted his administration’s projects and interventions in the area and called on voters to give the APC another mandate.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor said his administration had delivered on several promises, including support for farmers, youth empowerment, school improvements and healthcare development.
He challenged political leaders to demonstrate their credibility through service to their communities rather than making promises they could not fulfil.
“The people of Kankara have witnessed how this government has provided palliatives, supported farmers, empowered young people, upgraded schools, taken over hospitals and developed healthcare facilities. We are not just making promises; these are interventions you can assess,” Radda said.
He assured residents that his administration would sustain the programmes if re-elected, while thanking them for what he described as a strong turnout at the rally.
“You have shown us great respect and dignity. You have demonstrated your loyalty, your love and your commitment to Katsina State. Insha Allah, we will not disappoint the confidence you have placed in us,” he said.
The governor said the political process ahead of the 2027 elections should be guided by truth, sincerity and accountability, warning residents against what he described as deceptive political promises.
He argued that political leaders should assess the capacity and competence of aspirants before making promises about elective positions or leadership opportunities.
“Anyone who promises you a political ticket without first examining your capacity and competence, or tells you that you will become a leader without considering your background and ability to handle leadership responsibilities, is simply deceiving you,” he said.
Radda also criticised politicians who, according to him, remain absent from their communities for years but return during election campaigns to solicit votes.
“Some people are nowhere to be found when there is work to be done. They do not participate in community activities or contribute to the development of their people. Yet, when election time approaches, they suddenly appear after three and a half years to ask for votes. My people, that is a joke,” the governor said.
He urged eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and vote for the APC at all levels in the 2027 elections.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal-Jobe said Kankara had benefited from more than 600 projects under the Radda administration, with interventions reaching virtually every ward in the local government area.
“Virtually every ward in Kankara has felt the impact of this administration’s development programmes. The projects are significant because they directly address the needs of our people,” Lawal-Jobe said.
He listed the upgrading of Government Secondary School, Dan Maidoki, into a full secondary school, alongside scholarship programmes and youth empowerment initiatives, among the interventions.
The Director-General of the Tinubu-Dikko Campaign Council, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, commended the people of Kankara for their support for the APC and urged party members to convert their enthusiasm into votes at polling units during the elections.
The council’s co-chairman, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, called for unity, discipline and coordination among party members, urging them to focus on development issues rather than divisive political rhetoric.
Other political figures at the rally included Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, APC State Chairman Bishir Gambo Saulawa, Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa House of Representatives candidate Hamza Sule Faskari, Kankara State Assembly member Lawal Abdu Ibrahim and the local government chairman, Kasimu Dantsoho Katoge.
Also present were the campaign council’s Deputy Director, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; its Secretary-General, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; government officials, traditional rulers and APC stakeholders.
West Trybe reports that the Kankara rally forms part of the APC’s early mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections, with Radda using his administration’s reported projects in the area to seek continued support for both the state and federal governing parties.
